Visit to Succulent Gardens!

Ok. Two posts in a row about succulents, I know, but I’m having a lot of fun with them! The place I go to buy them is called Succulent Gardens and the owner, Robin, has been doing this for more than 30 years. He is, as we say, an expert. I had to buy some plants for a very windy site and of course Aeonium was on the list. They’re weird, cool and beautiful- not to mention really tough. ┬áThere are so many different ones! Here’s what Robin has done with them in a display garden. I call it the Aeonium Bank.

Click on ’em, click on ’em, click on ’em! They look oh so much better BIG. Isn’t this AMAZING??

They also have many greenhouses and one of them had carpets of sweet babies. See?

If you feel like driving along the coast to Moss Landing, you can go east at the twin smokestacks of the power plant and in five more minutes, you’ll be in heaven. Oh, and afterward you can have a super yummy lunch at Haute Enchilada. (NOT “The Whole Enchilada” that you can see from the highway- confusing, I know)

Tiny Garden

Cutest Thing Ever!

Last week I drove down the coast to see my friend Robin at Succulent Gardens in Moss Landing. He has a wonderland of all things succulent-y. Acres of the most beautiful, varied and healthy plants imaginable. I filled my truck up with plants for a garden I just planted in Montara that is right on the ocean. The thing I wanted for myself, though, was NOT FOR SALE yet! It was a prototype for a product that they will be selling soon. This little gem was about 5in. by 12in. on the outside, so the planted area was aprx. 2.5″ x 9.5″. Tiny!!! …and cute. Oh my god.
